GRANTS IN ACTION
In each of the past three years, D.E.F. grants have touched 70-80% of the students in Durango School District 9-R, in a small group, whole grade, and whole school settings. From a single iPad for a reading interventionist to an all 8th-grade common read, to a powerful new gymnasium/performance center sound system for a 475-student elementary school, D.E.F. grants have made a positive impact.

Durango Big Picture High School used DEF grant money (from the 2014 C.A.F.E. campaign) to buy video equipment and bring in specialists to expand students’ understanding and appreciation of the arts. Please enjoy this brief movie by the DBPHS video class students.
Sarah Lemcke, Riverview Elementary Preschool Teacher, was awarded a DEF Core Grant to provide an authentic hands-on learning experience for her students. After she introduced the new outdoor learning materials funded by her grant, Sarah invited DEF to observe outside learning time. Thank you Riverview for the beautiful card!
