Available Scholarships

Applicants: Please read through the individual Scholarship Criteria and Important Information prior to submission to ensure a complete application.

Always 100% Effort – Joe Burtoni Scholarship ($1,000) Open to Animas High School, Big Picture High School and Durango High School seniors. Available to those pursuing 2 or 4-year degrees.

​

Brinton Family Girls’ Swimming Scholarship ($1,000) open to Animas High School and Durango High School seniors who are leaders on the DHS swim team. Available to those pursuing 4-year degrees.

DLM Scholarships 

DLM Scholarship--Bachelor's Degrees *Will not be awarded again until 2027

($12,500 per year up to 4 years, pending Donor Approval) For DHS and Big Picture Applicants attending 4-Year colleges and pursuing majors in STEM, business, medical, or education in a Four Corners or a Western Undergraduate Exchange School.

New! DLM Scholarship--Associate/Trade Degrees ($5,000 per year up to two years pending Donor Approval) For DHS and Big Picture Applicants Pursuing Associates or Certificate Programs in a vocational field in the Four Corners or a Western Undergraduate Exchange School.

Durango Coca-Cola Scholarship (2024 amount to be determined) For DHS and Big Picture applicants pursuing a 4-year degree in Colorado.  Preference given to those attending Fort Lewis College

Durango High School Alumni Association – Jeff Kuss Distinguished Student Award ($1,000) Awarded by nomination only.  Recipient selected by a committee of DHS alumni

Elizabeth Testa Memorial School Board Scholarship ($3,000) For students from DHS or Big Picture who are pursuing 2 or 4-year degrees but still have obstacles to overcome

Ems Family Scholarhip ($10,000/yr renewable)

​

Martin Family “Paving a Pathway” Scholarship (up to $10,000 over the course of 4 years, as determined by Donor)  For DHS or Big Picture students who have had a run-in with law enforcement but have turned their lives around.

Mary Ruth Bowman Boys’ Swimming Scholarship ($1,500) *Currently not available

​

Morehart Murphy Regional Auto Center: Automotive Scholarship ($1,000) For a DHS or Big Picture student pursuing a degree in the automotive industry. Possibility to renew, and also to interview for paid internship work, pending DEF & Donor Approval

Newbold Family Scholarship ($2,000) Two scholarships will be awarded to students attending DHS or Big Picture and planning to attend  Fort Lewis College.

​

Sachs Construction, LLC Scholarship ($1,000) Awarded to a DHS or Big Picture student pursuing 2 or 4-year degrees who has financial need and obstacles to overcome. Possibility to interview for paid internship work.

​

Steve A. Torres Scholarship ($2,500) Open to Big Picture High School seniors only who are pursuing 2 or 4-year degrees OR high school juniors or seniors pursuing innovative educational opportunities who need financial assistance.

Tom & Ann Hartney Scholarship ($1,000) Open to DHS and Big Picture graduating seniors who are pursuing a degree in humanities (see list of specific majors) and are interested in history, social issues, and serving their community.

Walt Anderson Memorial Scholarship ($1,000) Awarded by nomination only to an individual directly involved with the DHS football team

Zink Family Scholarship ($2,000) Awarded to a DHS or Big Picture student seeking a degree in teaching, agricultural education, business, medical or nursing fields
